2011 Center for Energy Efficiency & ... And the winner is…Shelli Driscoll, Contracting Project Administrator, Climate Solutions, Knoxville, TN, is the grand prize winner for her photo of the solar thermal system for domestic hot water installed at the Knox County Detention Facility in Knoxville. One of the largest solar thermal systems for domestic hot water in the United States, the 300-panel system produces/stores nearly 14,000 gallons of hot water per day, providing the facility with 80 percent of its daily hot water supply. Trane collaborated with FLS Energy to create this system, which uses clean and renewable energy, saving Knox County $60,000 per year in natural gas expenses and reducing carbon emissions by 174 tons annually.
